A group of 50 school principals and officials from the municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD) have begun their training at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K). The five-day capacity building workshops were inaugurated by Delhi education minister Atishi Marlena and mayor Shelly Oberoi on Tuesday.
The capacity building programme is led by IIM-K director, Prof Debashis Chatterjee, along with expert faculty members. Atishi expressed her hope that learning from a prestigious institute like IIM-K will enable the MCD school principals and officials to establish a world-class education model in their schools. She emphasized the role of principals as change-makers and flag-bearers of education revolution, and believes that their exposure to IIM-K will empower them to create a successful future for students.
Debashis Chatterjee welcomed the participants and described the programme as an “ongoing conversation between stakeholders to create the best institutions”. He highlighted the crucial role of principals in character-building and stated that the IIM-K experience would broaden their perspectives, helping them transform their schools into world-class institutions.
Shelly Oberoi, an executive alumnus of IIM-K, stressed the importance of leadership training and management practices from the esteemed institution.
The programme at IIM-K will cover subjects such as mindful leadership in the 4.0 world, creativity and innovation in institution development, impactful communication and interpersonal skills, design thinking, and technology in education. The expert faculty at IIM-K will provide training in these areas.
